Family Golf Month

Bring the whole crew down to the golf course this month and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Summer is here, and that means family time. Family Golf Month encourages families to enjoy the game together, giving everyone, young and old, the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game in a fun atmosphere.

Go to any course this season and you’ll soon realize that playing golf, even in your hometown, may be the perfect family vacation. It is hard to imagine a better family activity. Take your family and enjoy a day outside: walking through beautiful rolling fairways, sipping cool lemonade, sharing special conversations, perhaps some friendly competition while spending quality time together.

PGA Professionals across the country will offer family clinics, play days and special events such as Take Your Daughter to the Course Week and Bring Your Kids to the Golf Range. In addition to special events, all year-round, pros and facilities offer junior rates, kids-play-free promotions and family-tee options.

Another great program through the SCGA Foundation is the Youth on Course program; juniors enjoy $1-$5 green and range fees at participating facilities across the Southern California. Many wonderful junior-golf programs provide instruction and competitive opportunities for players from beginner to the advanced.

If your son or daughter hasn’t taken up the sport, encourage them – learn or re-learn the game together. If your child already has the golf bug, continue to encourage and support their interests.

Children are never too young to learn the game. In fact, the younger, the better. If a child starts playing golf at a young age, chances are he won’t develop as many bad swing habits and etiquette as one who takes up the game later in life.

Introduce your child to the game, and you will have someone to play with for a lifetime.
