![]() Rik Mitchell is Southern California’s distributor of the High Definition Golf Simulator, a machine that takes the concept of a golf arcade game and launches it into another galaxy. But as enjoyable as it is to play, the system also is a great teaching aid because it offers data and swing analysis information. “This is, hands down, the most realistic, easy-to-use and comprehensive golf simulator on the market,” said Mitchell, who opened his Anaheim showroom two months ago. Mitchell, a north Orange County restauranteur, entrepreneur and avid golfer, was supposed to represent a different golf simulator company in January, but once he saw High Definition’s exhibit at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., he knew he had to get involved. “Once I saw the entire package, I was sold,” Mitchell said. “Most golf simulators use computer graphics ... but this is high-definition photography, and it makes for a far more realistic experience. You see every tree, bunker and hazard. It really does seem like you’re standing on the course.” Mitchell also touts the system’s convenience. As long as a homeowner or business has a 9-foot ceiling and a room at least 12 feet wide and 20 feet deep, “you can be playing it in minutes after it’s installed,” he said. Since this is a product aimed at “owners of high-end homes who really want to take entertainment to the next level, teaching pros or clubfitters who want the most high- tech aid on the market,” Mitchell knows the cost will be restrictive for some. But he says the price is worth it for people who want the ultimate indoor system. “You really have to experience this to believe it,” he said.
